This Privacy Policy explains how yutify ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our web application ("the Service"). By using the Service, you acknowledge and consent to the practices outlined in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

• Music Metadata Requests: Information such as artist name, song title, and other search parameters provided by users to retrieve music information.
• User Account Information: For users who sign up, we collect email addresses and linked music service accounts for authentication and to provide requested information, such as music metadata about their currently listening activity on linked platforms. Linking third-party services is optional and only required if users wish to access this feature.
• Activity Data: Only the most recent activity for linked services is saved in our database. We do not store user searches, whether signed up or not.
• Search Logging: For debugging purposes, we temporarily log search queries in the terminal or console. However, these logs are not persisted or saved in any database.
• Rate Limiting: To prevent abuse of the Service, we implement rate limiting based on user IP addresses. IP addresses are temporarily used in memory for this purpose and are not saved or stored persistently.

2. Use of Information

The information we collect is used to:

• Provide music metadata and streaming links from third-party services.
• Enable user account features, such as linking music services and providing music metadata for recent listening activity on linked service(s).
• Improve the functionality and user experience of the Service.

3. Data Persistence

We do not host, download, or store any music files. The application only saves textual information and links to third-party services in our database for recent activity tracking.

4. Account Management

Users can delete their accounts or unlink services they have linked at any time from the settings page. When a service is unlinked, all related data, such as recent activity, is deleted immediately. Similarly, when an account is deleted, all user data is removed, and the username and email used for the account become available for creating a new account.

5. Third-Party Services

Our Service integrates with third-party APIs, such as Spotify, Deezer, Apple Music, and YouTube Music, to fetch music information. By using the Service, you agree to be bound by the privacy policies and terms of service of these third-party services. We encourage you to review their policies.

6. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access or breaches. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure.

7. Changes to Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
